MINI BOOM Design
The design of the speaker is small, and from the front it seems similar to the Beats Pill, which is obviously a speaker it competes with. The volume controls are on top and make it easy to change the volume without actually picking up the speaker.

I found the volume controls to be a little inconsistent, and had to tap them multiple times for the volume control to work. The actual frame of the speaker feels very durable, which is a big plus because many wireless speakers seem to feel delicate.

The speaker is very light and measures at 3.9 x 3.3 x 6.3 inches, allowing it to be easily brought anywhere you go and easily stored in a bag or small space. The overall design is very durable, which is vital for a speaker that you take on the go. Accidental drops and bumps should not affect the speaker.

Speaker performance
The speaker performs very well. Its highs are very clear just like it claims; however its bass is not as defined. Compared to cheaper wireless speakers, the bass is much better. But compared to similar models, the bass will get in the way of certain notes and affect certain sounds.

This only happens when the volume is all the way up, but the sound is not all that loud on the highest level, which makes it a small problem. It could also depend on the song, as the bass quality is mostly the actual audio. The battery life is in fact very good, and it lasted strongly for the few hours I was using it at one time.

The Bluetooth speaker works from up to 50 feet away, which is much longer than most wireless speakers. This is a great feature because it lets you have your device, such as your phone, on you as you move around the area. Another great feature of the speaker is that it lets you wirelessly connect two speakers for better sound. This is done through an app, which can be downloaded for free on the iPhone or Android app store.

Cons of the UE MINI BOOM

  1. Inconsistent volume controls that can require multiple taps to get the volume control to work.
  2. The bass is not as defined and as clear as it’s highs.
  3. It will sometimes interfere with the sound when the volume is all the way up.
  4. The volume is not all that loud on it’s highest level.

Conclusion

Overall, this is a quality speaker that is good for it’s price. Although it has some flaws such as its bass and volume controls, the speaker packs a punch; and it can take one as well. Its durable design, small size, and clear sound make this a very good speaker.
