Pebble Smartwatch For iPhone and Android Devices Review

The Pebble smartwatch is useful in some situations, for example, when discretion is necessary: the watch vibrates silently, meaning that the wearer can discretely look at their watch to view incoming notifications, without having to take out their phone.

This Pebble Smart Watch will help you manage your life on the go, allowing you to keep up to speed, without having to slow down.

Features:

Compatible with certain Apple and Android devices

The watch and compatible device are easily paired using Bluetooth technology

Controls music, phone calls, view messages and receive notifications

Downloadable apps, including one to change the watch face

Waterproof

E-paper design ensures great visibility, even in bright sunlight

Product Description:

Connecting the Pebble SmartWatch to its respective compatible device is simple: just download the app (there are two, one for Androids and the other for Apple), and the two are paired in seconds. Once the smartwatch and device are connected, you can stay in touch with the outside world, without looking at your phone: receive notifications such as incoming telephone calls, check email previews or look at Facebook updates. The smartwatch advises of incoming notifications by a short vibration, and the light will briefly flash on, making the Pebble smartwatch ideal in situations where discretion is vital, such as watching a movie at the cinema, or during an important meeting.

The smartwatch offers a range of apps, including one that can alter the watch face: they range from the classic analogue, to more modern faces. The smartwatch is controlled by four side-mounted buttons, allowing you to scroll through messages, control your music, or view menus. It also currently comes in five different colours, including cherry red, jet black and orange.

The watch has a waterproof design, which means that you can swim or take a shower without removing it. For those that like to keep track of their running statistics, the watch provides a convenient way of seeing how you are doing, without having to stop running, or fumble to take a phone out. The Pebble smartwatch offers fonts in different sizes, and also has a practical e-paper display, which makes it easy to read the screen, even in bright sunlight.

Pros:

E-paper display

Easy set up

Waterproof

Long battery life

Cons:

Limited app selection

No touchscreen

The Pebble smartwatch is useful in some situations, for example, when discretion is necessary: the watch vibrates silently, meaning that the wearer can discretely look at their watch to view incoming notifications, without having to take out their phone. The smartwatch has a long-lasting battery, often going as long as week, and the watch is waterproof, making it very useful when building up a sweat exercising, showering or even swimming. It is light-weight and comfortable on the wrist. However, the watch has limited uses: at present, English is the only language offered and the watch  displays just the latest notification, so if you receive several emails in quick succession, you will only be able to read the last. The watch doesn’t have a touchscreen, instead relying on buttons at the side of the watch; these require a firm press, which makes it quite tricky to input data.

Warranty

Parts Only – One year limited

In summary, the watch does have certain advantages, such as being waterproof, easy to read display and provides a discrete way to stay connected. However, at present, it is fairly basic, with functions that are relatively limited.

What Others Are Saying

“Was using with GS2 and now with GS

  • Works great. Get all my emails, texts and notifications. Now I can leave my phone in my purse where it is safe.”

“This watch is great! I love being able to try different watch faces every day.”

“It is a novelty item. It works as advertised. It was easy to setup and use. Not very many 3rd party applications, and the ones that exist are pretty limited by nature.”

“The trouble with this watch is that it seems you constantly are having to re-connect it to your phone. It seems to have a lot of bugs yet and there’s not much help by e-mail.”
